Survival is the effort to remain alive and living (subsistence lifestyle on a short- or long-term basis). Survivalism is preparation for disruptions in the social or political order. Provide the basic necessities for human life: water, food, shelter, habitat, and the need to think straight, to signal for help, to navigate safely, to avoid unpleasant interactions with animals and plants and for first aid. Survival skills are ideas and abilities that ancient humans have used for thousands of years. Bushcraft is a long-term extension of survival skills. Scoutcraft is woodcraft knowledge and skills. Woodcraft are skills and experience in matters relating to living and thriving in the woods (or "living off the land").
